Bringing The Outside In: A Fresh Refurb at Hotel Penzance

Perched on the Atlantic coast in the fishing village of Penzance, our hotel enjoys breath-taking views of sweeping sky and ever-changing seascapes.

The sea is integral to life here. The cry of gulls and the salty tang of the air encircle our Edwardian townhouse. For those of us who fish the seas or cook the catch, the tides are our clocks.

We wanted to bring this pure and elemental existence inside our hotel and restaurant. So began a personal project, to ‘bring the outside in’. We are delighted to share the result with you now. We hope that every nook and corner of Hotel Penzance reminds you of the natural beauty of Cornwall.

We began with our 25 en-suite hotel rooms, your ‘home from home’ when you stay with us. We decided to keep our furniture but we tastefully refreshed each item with soft furnishings that complement a calm and graceful Laura Ashley-inspired decor. It took a while as you can imagine, but it was worth every minute.

The colour scheme in all the rooms takes in their views of waves or coastal skies, in a relaxing wash of delicate duck egg blue with deep aquamarine notes. Some of our rooms enjoy panoramic views of Penzance Harbour and across to the iconic St Michael’s Mount. These views have come to the fore in our new interiors.

Our stunning new reception lounge, is the perfect spot for wave watching and cosy contemplation.

The sea is certainly the central theme of the rooms, and relaxation their chief emotion.

Lie back on soft sheets and notice how the daylight diffuses your room in gentle waves. Here is a space to unwind and relax in complete comfort.

We trust you will find our hotel homely and hospitable as ever. We pride ourselves on our warm and welcoming service. Whether you spend your last night on the mainland before a journey to the Isles of Scilly with us, or all of your holiday, we will be pleased to assist you in any way we can.  

The hotel flows into our Garden Bar & Restaurant. We have decorated the dining area with foliage to bring the outside in and harmonise with the Ivy Chelsea gardens outside. The restaurant’s conservatory and ample windows enjoy magnificent views of the coast and harbour.

Our menu is all about the joy of great food without any of the pretention. Come here to relax in good company and tuck into hearty fare or delicious small plates.

There is room for every taste on our menu. Find your comfort food, your generous helpings, your favourite homemade pasta, at affordable prices (two and three courses are £14.95/ £17.95). We also have a Vegan Menu and a Gourmet Menu with special dishes like fillet steak.

Our menus document our own story of how our love for great food grew into our ‘farm to fork’ restaurant. We are so lucky to live in an area of natural abundance, and our kitchen celebrates Cornwall’s fantastic seafood and fresh field produce.
